APJ_ce cares about the protection of your personal information and will make all reasonable efforts to properly handle the information collected. All information collected will be handled with care in accordance with APJ_ce’s standards of honesty and objectivity, and with respect for your privacy. APJ_ce is committed to complying with all laws and regulations applicable to the collection and use of personal information, including but not limited to privacy laws. As used in this policy, “we” and “us” includes APJ_CE, subsidiaries and our staff, employees, officers, directors, volunteer editors and reviewers as well as suppliers and independent contractors under contract with us. “APJ_CE sites” include the following: the web pages and content of the APJ_CE websites, journal sites, as well as tools, software, submission systems, web forms, registration system and any other means by which we interact with you.

Your use of and interaction with the APJ_CE websites indicates your unconditional acceptance of the practices described in this privacy policy, as they may be amended from time to time. If you do not agree to and do not accept all of the practices described in this privacy policy, do not use the APJ_CE sites and do not submit or send any personal information through or while using the APJ_CE sites. By providing personal information to us, you consent to our collection, use, and disclosure of your personal information as described in this privacy policy.

WHAT WE MAY COLLECT

Personal Information

When you interact with APJ_CE websites, we may ask you for personal information, including but not limited to such things as your name, mailing address, email address, institution name, phone number, credit card or other payment information. It is strictly voluntary for you to provide this information. Generally, you can visit the APJ_CE Sites without disclosing such information. If you are an author submitting or have submitted a manuscript or other research findings to APJ_CE for our consideration or for placement on our Sites or as a preprint, we will require you to provide the above types of information so that we can adhere to publication standards, and if your paper is published or placed as a preprint, at least your name, affiliation will be indicated as part of the paper. Similarly, when you register with APJ_CE to receive updates or other types of notifications from us, we will ask for your email address, at a minimum, so that we can send you the information you have requested.

Technical information

In addition, through your interaction with the APJ_CE Sites, we may collect, access, store and use your computer’s IP address, the URL/domain name of any referring website, the time and date you visited the APJ_CE Sites, and certain information known as “clickstream data” so that we can understand how people interact with the APJ_CE Sites, analyze data to identify trends and statistics, help diagnose and solve problems with the APJ_CE Sites and our technology, products and services, and help optimize your experience. We also use session cookies, which are small data files stored in your browser so that you don’t have to log in every time you visit any of our web pages. From time to time we use software tools to reproduce user sessions in order to evaluate our customers’ interactions with our software and these sessions may be associated with your user account. If you do not want session cookies to be stored on your computer, you may configure your browser settings to prevent this, but note that if you do not accept cookies, some pages may not function properly and you may not be able to access certain information on the APJ_CE Sites.

Child Protection

The use of the APJ_CE Sites is intended for adults at least eighteen (18) years of age and we will not knowingly collect personally-identifying information from children under the age of thirteen (13).

APJ_CE uses your personal information as described above, as well as to customize your experience on APJ_CE Sites and to facilitate our interactions with you, if any. Except as needed to provide services to you, such as contacting you about a manuscript you have submitted or processing an article, or processing a payment for processing an article, APJ_CE staff generally does not take note of your personal information; information is generally stored on our computers, computer networks, servers, tools and systems, as described above. In some cases the applications or user interfaces you encounter on our sites are operated by third parties who may require you to provide your personal information and who have assured us that they comply with applicable laws.
